It's not often that I get two Six in the City outings in one weekend. Lucky me! In case you don't know what Six in the City is: it's a way for me, you and four of your friends to do something fun out on the town. We've done a LOT of cool events so far... like seeing the ballet, meeting rock stars, seeing comedians at Comedy Works, eating at fab restaurants around Denver and even a trip to the Vail Cascade Resort and Spa for a weekend of pampering.
On Friday evening, I battled my way from the Tech Center to the DAM... if you recall, that was the day we had that insane thunderstorm. It took me well over an hour to get downtown and I kept getting distracted by all the lightning. I'm like a little kid that way. I LOVE thunderstorms!!
When I finally made it to the Art Museum, I met up with three of my Six in the City winner's friends. Apparently Amy (the actual winner) and her 4th guest were having a hard time in traffic, too. Haha. When we were all present and the introductions were complete, we headed inside and grabbed a beverage while deciding what to do first, but our planning was interrupted by the fire alarm. Now, I don't know if you have ever had one of THOSE weeks, but last week was one of those for me and the fire alarm didn't phase me in the least. Just one more goofy random thing to add to the list. At least they let us take our drinks outside with us! When the false alarm was finally repealed and the firetrucks had left, we got our chance to wander around the museum and check out the exhibits and partake in some of the "Nighty Night" festivities. Amy and her friends were a blast! Once again, I hung out with some awesome and fun Alice listeners. It's always nice to meet people that listen to the station and appreciate the arts!
On Sunday, I was able to see my very first Cirque Du Soleil! I met Alice listener Denise and her 4 friends at the Pepsi Center grounds and we had a fantastic time at Corteo. Super cool show... I hope to see more of these because I was totally impressed.
So, a huge thank you to Amy and Denise (plus their friends) for the fun weekend! Keep tuned to Alice for the next Six in the City outing. If you want to view pictures from the festivities, check out my Scrapbook on my page at www.alice1059.com

something else to do if you're bored at work
Check out the new Alice Studio webcam! When I arrived this morning and saw our new webcam was installed, I was astounded at the quality of the picture. Certainly not because I haven't seen a quality web image before... but because now it affects my life 5 hours of every day!
I've had a lot of listeners over the past two years ask me how it feels to have a camera on me at all times while I'm working. I suppose I've never been that worried about it. I recall being pretty aware of the webcam my first two weeks or so here at Alice, but after a while I stopped thinking about it. Of course, then... the picture was delayed and had to refresh often, plus the image quality wasn't very high.
That has changed as of today. The new cam is in realtime and the image is of a MUCH higher quality. Yes, you can pretty much see everything I'm doing... rather clearly. I look at it this way: In about 2 weeks, I will be used to it.
It is a little odd knowing that I can be watched so clearly while I'm working! I suppose it will inspire me even more to make sure I don't look like a slob when i come to work. Ha! I don't tend to do that anyway, but just in case I ever get the urge, I'll know better! I only wish you could see out the window because we do have a beautiful view of downtown and The Rockies.
If you haven't checked out our fabulous new webcam, do it!

Welcome to Sam Hill's Blog!
Hi!
First of all, I love to talk music and I want to use this blog to generally discuss music and various Alice events. It may take a few tries to get my rythm down, but it will happen. I thank you in advance for reading and listening to Alice.

I can't guarantee my grammer and punctuation will be without error. Occassionally, I get excited when I'm writing and my typing suffers (just a bit), but if you've ever seen any of Courtney Love's blogs, you know it could be a LOT worse.
So... Welcome to my blog! I look forward to sharing my thoughts with you and hope you'll do the same.
