Slim pickins for this week, but Blige's release is an exciting one. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!
Mary J. Blige- Growing Pains **Sam’s Pick**
This is Blige’s 8th studio album and a fantastic addition to her repertoire. She’s what I like to call on FIRE right now and this entire CD of new material is smooth as silk. The song “Work That” is on the new iTunes commercial. My fav so far is “Fade Away.”
Sweeny Todd- Movie Soundtrack
Who knew? Apparently Johnny Depp CAN sing. You can get all of the music from the movie in this deluxe complete edition, complete with lyrics, photos and an 80-page booklet. Worth checking out even if you aren’t a fan of the opera.
Tool- Vicarious (DVD)
Fans that have all ready purchased this are making a huge effort to point out this is NOT a live performance DVD, but rather the making of Vicarious. However, in Tool fashion.. there is a surprise. If you work out the code on the DVD, you can see some live footage from The Pearl show in Vegas. Worth the work for a true Tool fan.
Lupe Fiasco- The Cool
Again, I’m not the biggest fan of hip hop, but there are artists I respect very much and Lupe is one of them. His messages are different. More intelligent… deeper. He’s one of the reasons I dig the genre, though I am picky about the artists I support.
Also released:
Jaheim- The Makings of a Man
Thanks for reading.

save the earth, rock the beatbox and celebrate a ten year!
This week's releases are MUCH better than last week! Enjoy. :)
Live Earth- The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis (2007) DVD
More than 100 musical acts came together to perform at a series of worldwide shows to help raise awareness about global climate change and to advocate environmentally sustainable living. Rather than chronicle the entire list of music on this compilation, I’ll just give you the link to spun.com’s page.

Godsmack- Good Times, Bad Times- 10 Years of Godsmack
A greatest hits from the rock band that has sold over 8 million records to date and has had 13 hits, including 5 number one hits on the rock charts. This compilation includes a sweet DVD that has the band performing at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.
Nick Drake- Box Set
This box set includes 3 CDs: Five Leaves Left, Bryter Later and Pink Moon, plus a DVD that has a BBC documentary and a booklet.
Daft Punk- Alive 2007 **Sam’s Pick**
This was recorded at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris on June 14th of this year. This two-disc set is packaged as a bound book and contains an enhanced CD featuring five extra tracks from the show's encore and 50 pages of photographs shot on tour.
Wyclef Jean- Carnival II (Memoirs of an Immigrant) **Sam’s Pick**
It’s the 10-year anniversary of Wyclef’s first solo album (The Carnival Featuring the Refugee All-Stars). The former member of the Fugees teams up with artists like Nora Jones, Shakira, Paul Simon and Chamillionaire, just to name a few. Very cool jams, I must say.
Blake Lewis- Audio Daydream
You want beatbox? You got it. Not really my thing, but one hugely redeeming quality is that he works with Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic. Together, they create something fun and energetic, if it’s your thing. The non-redeeming quality of the album? The CD cover. Yikes.
The Libertines- The Best Of- A Time For Heroes
Not a super greatest hits… what you’ll find is the band’s 6 singles from their two albums, a couple tracks from their EP (I Get Along) and some others. Not too sparkling, but if you own nothing from the band, but dig ‘em, this might be for you.
Other CDs worth noting:
Queen: Rock Montreal & Live Aid [Blu-ray] (2007) **Sam’s Pick**
Rufus Wainwright- Rufus! Rufus! Rufus! Does Judy! Judy! Judy! Live at the London Palladium
Styles P- Supa Gangsta, Extraordinary Gentlemen
Ghostface- The Big Doe Rehab
Too Short- Get Off The Stage
Lucy Walsh- Lost In The Lights
The Wreckers- Way Back Home: Live From New York City (double disc)
Thanks for reading!
