we'll start with alanis and go from there!

Alanis Morissette- Flavors of Entanglement
Alanis’ new album has just a bit more of a dramatic feel, but not enough to frighten her fans. Her producer has added an edge to this release and Morissette’s failed relationships obviously help her write passionate music. The tunes are very diverse in style and make for a very well-rounded album and a very interesting listen. It’s true, we like her better when she’s ticked off!

My Morning Jacket- Evil Urges
The critics seem afraid that this new work from MMJ is going to sink the band. It is decidedly different yes, but the jury is still out for me on whether they have taken their experimenting too far. MMJ has hit the road in support of their new album. They will be playing Red Rocks with the Black Keyes on August 21st. Tickets are on sale now.

Jakob Dylan- Seeing Things
Jakob is best known as the lead singer of the Wallflowers and for being Bob Dylan’s son This is his first solo album produced by legendary producer Rick Rubin. His songwriting stands out as great as ever on this one and Jakob’s folk roots are most definitely making a stand here. He’s currently touring to support his new album… no date scheduled here yet, but if you want to see him perform live right away, he’s on Letterman tomorrow night.

Adele- 19
Adele has been gearing up to attack the music scene for a while, but you may only be hearing of her for the first time today, the US release of her new album featuring the song “Chasing Pavements.” Adele’s music can best be described as soulful and jazzy.

The Fratellis- Here We Stand **Sam’s Pick**
This is the band’s much anticipated sophomore album. I’m picking it even though I haven’t even heard it in its entirety yet. That’s how much I love this band. If they add us to their world tour plans, their show is a must see.
