fresh, hot and flat out dope

Here are some of the new releases for today, November 13, 2007

CD Releases

LCD Soundsystem- 45:33
This is not necessarily new, but it is the first time that’s it’s been available on CD. The creation was originally released as one continuous piece… Nike commissioned James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem to create it for their Original Run series. This release has the music in a easier form for the everyday fan to navigate because it’s split into separate tracks.

Seal- System
It’s been 4 years since a new Seal album was released and this one a lot more dance-oriented than some of his previous work.

The Killers- Sawdust
What you’re going to find on this album includes a b-side from “When You Were Young” (All The Pretty Faces), plus a couple tunes from movie soundtracks and some tunes that weren’t totally finished from the Killers first two albums (Hot Fuss and Sam’s Town).

Queensryche- Take Cover **Sam’s Pick**
Queensryche does covers. Everything from the Police to Sabbath and even some Pink Floyd. Super fun!!

Goo Goo Dolls- Greatest Hits
You’re going to find all the songs you’ve heard on the radio… so all their mainstream hits, yes, plus a couple new versions of songs, but all in all? Not that interesting of a greatest hits. If you own all the Goo’s albums all ready, you have no need for this

Duran Duran- Red Carpet Massacre **Sam's Pick**
And here we go.. another album by the legendary Duran Duran. In order to keep themselves cool (which they excel at!), the guys brought Timbaland and Justin Timberlake on board. This is a much better disc overall than Astronaut, which fell a tad flat in my opinion… it wasn’t horrible at all, but just not.. well, HOT. This album, however, kicks Astronaut’s tail!

Celine Dion- Taking Chances
This is a huge departure from the Celine you all ready know (thus the title of the album, I’m guessin’). She seems to be digging a little deeper and giving us just a bit more than the pretty stuff we’re used to! Even if you’ve never been a fan of Celine, try this one out just for giggles. You might actually like it.

The Hives- Black and White Album **Sam's Pick**
As far as Swedish bands go, these guys are one of the best! This is their third release here in the states and it flat out rocks. Crunchy and full of attitude, or ‘tude. Yeah… ‘tude would be much more appropriate. Hehe.

Boyz II Men- Motown: A Journey Through Hitsville USA
Oh.. hooray! The Boyz have paid homage to some of the most classic Motown tunes from legends like the Temptations and the Four Tops. Randy Jackson (yo, Dawg) from American Idol produced these fun gems. Also on the CD? A handful of their number 1s.

A few others of note:
Dane Cook- Rough Around The Edges: Live From Madison Square Garden
Alicia Keys- As I Am
Various- Now, That’s What I Call Music, Vol. 26
David Gray- Greatest Hits
